Whether you like it or not, games like Friday the 13th and Dead by Daylight are slowly becoming the next big thing in online gaming. Pitting a group of online friends and strangers against an overwhelming and powerful antagonist (unless your game is developed by Behaviour) is a fun and rewarding way to play.
Fresh off the success of Friday the 13th the game, IllFonic is working in conjunction with Sony Interactive Entertainment and 20th Century Fox to bring us an asymmetrical multiplayer experience starring the iconic sci-fi/horror slasher…the Predator.
Charles Brungardt, CEO of IllFonic, spoke openly on the Playstation.blog website yesterday about how inspiration the Predator films, and franchise overall, have been throughout his career.
As the Game is in early development, Charles didn’t comment much about the actual gameplay mechanic we’ll find. What he did say though was fairly interesting and incredibly exciting as an unknown number of members of a Fireteam operating in a remote jungle will not only have to deal with the Predator, but will also have to deal with carrying out missions and deal with enemy insurgents. This adds a whole new layer of tension to the asymmetrical experience.
Let’s just hope they keep the pocket knives under control this time around.
Predator: Hunting Grounds is in early development and has a placeholder release date of 2020.
